Large-scale Russian Attacks Cut Electricity In Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while the country's government has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a public message.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles attacked the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the city came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were wounded.

The attacks follow periods of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and officials were preparing for further attacks.
